● FOR AGENCIES · MSPs · FREELANCERS WITH CLIENT SITES
Monitoring is a service you sell. Stop renting it. One self-hosted install of Vigil gives every client their own branded status page — and turns "is my site up?" from a panic email into a line item on your invoice.
Buy once. Bill monthly. Keep the margin.
Your clients already expect you to know when their site is down. Vigil turns that unpaid expectation into recurring revenue: a monitored site with a branded status page is a service clients happily pay for.
YOUR SERVER, YOUR PRICES, YOUR BRAND — VIGIL IS INVISIBLE TO YOUR CLIENTS
The free ride ended. The rented ride got expensive.
Two things changed in this market — both in your favor if you own the tool.
NOW NON-COMMERCIAL
UptimeRobot's free plan is non-commercial use only — monitoring client sites on it is against the terms. The free lunch for agencies is over: monitoring clients now means paying per monitor, per month, per tool… or owning the tool.
PRICED PER PAGE
Hosted status-page products charge per page, per month — at agency scale (a page per client) that's hundreds to thousands a month, forever. Vigil is multi-tenant by design: one install publishes every client's page, and the bill never arrives.
BUILT FOR ONE OPERATOR
Free self-hosted monitors are excellent for watching your own boxes — and structurally wrong for agencies: single admin login, no roles, no per-client isolation. Vigil ships four-role RBAC and per-tenant status pages — the two things client work actually requires.
HONEST TRADE, AS ALWAYS: HOSTED TOOLS BRING GLOBAL PROBES AND 24/7 OPS. YOU BRING ONE SERVER AND OWN EVERYTHING.
Buy it, and I install it for you.
Every license includes a personal setup. Buy Vigil, send me five client URLs and access to any $5 VPS — and I'm Maria, the developer, not a support queue — and I'll deploy it, configure the monitors and brand the status pages. Usually within 48 hours.
You start with a working, client-facing product — not a repository and a weekend of setup. Prefer doing it yourself? It's docker compose up and ~10 minutes.
BUY — $149, SETUP INCLUDEDAsked by agency owners, answered plainly.
No — not for the normal agency setup. One $149 license covers your installation with unlimited tenants: every client gets their own organization, monitors and branded status page on your install, and they access it as end users. You only need an additional license when a client receives their own separate deployment or a copy of the source — then it's one license per such client. Full terms in the LICENSE, readable before you pay.
Only if you tell them. Status pages are branded per tenant — the client's name, served from your domain (status.youragency.com or their own). You own the source, so even the sign-in screen can carry your logo. Monitoring becomes your product, priced by you.
Typical range for site monitoring + a status page inside a care plan is $15–$50 per client per month, usually bundled with maintenance. At $29/client, ten clients pay for Vigil twenty times over every year. We don't take a cut — the license is the whole cost.
You do — it's your server (that's the honest trade for owning it). The stack is deliberately boring: two processes and one Postgres, shipped as docker compose, with 135 tests and an upgrade guide. Put it on a $5 VPS outside your client infrastructure so the monitor never shares fate with what it monitors. And the 12 months of updates are included.
